2012 Highlight: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Licensing Style Guide

Based on the success of the Rock Hall’s gift store, and to create new awareness and revenue for the Rock Hall’s mission, we were challenged with creating a licensing style guide for their new program with The Wildflower Group. The main hurdle was that the only intellectual property they owned was their logo. Since we were not able to use any musicians, lyrics, artifact images, or specific instruments, we focused on the essence of over 60 years of Rock music to create a packaging and art system. We immersed ourselves in the roots of rock. And during one of our museum tours, we got to into the back-room archive and saw jackets worn by Jim Morrison and Michael Jackson, as well as boots worn by ZZ Top and original, hand-scrawled lyrics by John Lennon. All of which helped inspire our collection-focused licensing style guide.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees

Attending the 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee ceremony in Cleveland was the perfect way to celebrate the project. Some of the highlights were Ronnie Wood and the original Faces, Kid Rock doing a tribute to the Beastie Boys, Guns N’ Roses playing a few classics, and, of course, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
