The World of Eric Carle Baby
Design modules focusing on infants for The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Based on the strategy of Eric Carle’s licensing agency, the Joester Loria Group, we were given the task of developing cohesive design modules focusing on infants and toddlers. Since the majority of products in this category feature graphic applications, embroidery, and various cut and sew techniques, we had to evolve Eric’s watercolor illustration style into a simpler graphic system using trend-driven pattern-fills and vector-based art. We started by reworking the Very Hungry Caterpillar into a toddler caterpillar and then created vector art for the rest of the characters. The final groups focused on boys and girls, each with their own art group and color palette. We couldn’t wait to see the first developmental toys based on the style guide!
