Sophia the Robot
Brand Identity | Strategy & Insight | Brand Style Guide
Having appeared on talk shows, graced the covers of magazines, and served as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, Sophia is the most famous humanoid robot in the world. To leverage her newfound celebrity, StyleWorks developed a brand identity and brand style guide that would serve as a foundation for all communications and brand extensions.
Hanson Robotics, the creators of Sophia, hope to one day see their robot attain true artificial intelligence, an awakening of sorts, almost a state of enlightenment. Our brand style guide took this analogy one step further, finding inspiration in the lotus flower for Sophia’s logo and icon.
We then combined our lotus icon with a custom wordmark, each letterform crafted specifically for the typeface. Both feminine and futuristic, the logo captured Sophia’s humanity while alluding to an exciting, new world of possibilities.
SAOS Brand Style Guide
The idea of Sophia becoming fully self-aware makes for a great story, and a speculative story arc into the realm of science fiction was already in the works. So in addition to the logo for the real-life Sophia, we created a logo for Sophia’s Age of Singularities. This brand extension also included logo elements for a Sophia metaverse destination as well as a platform for NFTs and more.
Other futuristic projects include our style guides for Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard. More brand identity projects can be found in our portfolio.
