Star Trek: Picard
Licensing Style Guide | Creative Asset Collection | Product Vision
After developing style guides for the first two seasons of Star Trek: Discovery, we were excited to provide brand assets and a product vision for the Star Trek: Picard licensing style guide. Like its predecessors, the series boldly goes where no Star Trek has gone before while combining some of the franchise’s most iconic elements.
An Array of Designs
Our brand assets include more than 40 composed designs and patterns. Many of which featured illustrated and photographic character art, including painted, vector, and digitally rendered styles.
While providing licensees with a wide range of designs to choose from, this also gave the client the option to group the designs into mini collections if they preferred.
Featuring elements specific to the new series, including a Borg cube overrun by Romulans and a ship called La Sirena, we developed a number of high-resolution backgrounds evoking key story moments found throughout the season.
Tutorials for Working with Brand Assets
We provided several holding shapes along with a tutorial on how to use them in conjunction with our custom backgrounds.
Tutorials like this are often included in our guides as an aid to licensees creating new designs of their own. Our composed designs can be used as they appear or for inspiration. They can also be used to create new designs by modifying their individual graphic elements.
Research and Copy
Every Star Trek guide calls for extensive research into the particulars of the season and how they relate to the franchise as a whole.
To help licensees keep the multitude of graphic elements in context, we write bios for each of the main characters, as well as overviews on each series, season, and episode.
Given the extent of the Star Trek universe, the Star Trek: Picard licensing program allowed us to imagine products in a variety of categories, some not always associated with the franchise. Our aim was to excite committed fans who know every detail of the story, imagining potential products that reference, say, Picard’s vineyard or his trusty pit bull — Number One.
Products inspired by the series can be found on Amazon.
